Sampeah Kru Ceremony
A ceremony day to salute the teacher…
Time: 11:00 am- 2:00 pm
Location: 169 Wamsutta St.
Fall River, MA 02723

Sampeah Kru ceremony is a Khmer ritual in which students pay respects to their teachers in order to express their gratitude and formalize the student–teacher relationship. It is regularly held near the beginning of the school year or before for a performance of an event. They usually perform a Sampeah Kru ritual at their initiation as well before going out to performance at an event to pay respect and homage to their teachers and the deities who patronize their arts.

“Sampeah” means to bow in Khmer and it is also involves bringing your hands together as if saying a prayer. Khmer culture fosters a deep respect for educators and the “Sampeah Kru” ceremony is a brilliant way to start the academic year. The ceremony is very formal and decorative but it also is a vital part of the traditional in the Khmer culture.

We are looking forward to seeing you there. Thank you for your support!

With gratitude,
The President, Board, and Volunteers of the Cambodian American Rescue Organization of Fall River, Massachusetts# Massachusetts
